Magic Christmas – 2019

Magic Christmas

Over the last few days, I’ve started to get into the Christmas spirit. This year has been a busy year for me with my music. A lot of the music I have written I am unable to share with you yet. So when I found myself a free day with no pressing deadlines I decided that it was a good time to write my annual Christmas tune. When I look back it is actually biannual! (Christmas Night – 2017 & Christmas – 2015)

The Piece

Structure – It is a short piece with an ABA structure.

Instrumentation – All your classic Christmasy instruments – sleigh bells, celesta, glockenspiel, pizzicato strings, jumpy woodwinds and warm brass.

Inspiration – I had recently received an email from Spitfire Audio that they had created a Sleighbells library for Christmas. For any budding new composer, the Labs range by Spitfire is a great place to pick up some great instruments to use in your composition. Best of all they are free and they work with Spitfire’s own plugin so you don’t need the full version of Kontakt to use them. Having downloaded the sleigh bells I used these to create a simple rhythm which I built the piece on top of……………Several hours later a Christmas tune!

Sample Libraries Used

Sleighbells – Spitfire Audio (free)

Strings – Cinematic Studio Strings and Albion One and Albion One Original Spitfire Audio

Brass – Cinematic Studio Brass and Albion One

Woodwind – Albion One and Albion One Original Spitfire Audio

Choir – Oceania Performance Samples and Mercury Boy’s Choir Soundiron

Percussion – Damage, Albion One and Kontakt Factory Library

Please leave any comments (hopefully good!). If you have any questions about how I create my music please get in touch, always happy to pass on any advice. If you are interested in using my music or would like to hire me to write you an original work then please contact me through my contact page.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to my music. Hopefully, I’ll be able to share some of the commercial work I have been working on shortly.
